Document Management for Electronic Charts
A paperless office is available, but paper is familiar.
Most practices still use paper charts, but a paperless patient chart is available. Staff can:
- Create custom documents with automatic electronic storage
- Control access to documents on a "need to know" basis
- Directly import lab test results from any lab company compliant with HL7 standards.
Results? Practices dramatically reduce file storage costs and staff time spent finding patient charts to follow up on lab tests and medications. Multi-office practices no longer ship patient charts about the country.
Where is the chart? It's on your computer if you imported or scanned the documents.
But I'm at home? It's still on your computer by connecting into your office.
Do I know this patient? Scan the "red flag" identification documents and you'll know.
Show everything from last appointment? Documents can be attached to individual appointments.
I have special forms? Can the document template be created in Word™ or Publisher™?
I need to sign the document? You can retrieve documents awaiting signature and sign electronically.
Someone else has the chart? You can see and update the electronic chart concurrently with other staff.
What about security? MedEvolve documents are encoded within the SQL database.
How do I send a document? Send the document attached to an email, or print to a PDF file and send.
What about access restriction? Each staff will have access only to selected document types.
But I have an EMR? Separate the documents to match your work flow and staff duties.
Are scanners expensive? About the cost of locating ten patient charts. Then they are free.
What about HIPAA? Electronic record security is easier to monitor than manual record security.
Need Interoperability? Documents, such as lab reports, automatically flow from any lab system in compliance with HL7 interoperability standards.
